Weekend Getaway

 For the 24th of July we decided with some of our very best friends the Allens, that it was time for a little getaway from Provo :) So we headed to Salt Lake to the Drive-In to see Harry Potter. 

Overall it was pretty good. Anna and I's Lord of Ring lover husbands were a little more critical of it than we were. The second movie was Green Lantern, it was ok, not amazing but not awful. 

We didn't want to drive back to Provo after the movie so we booked a room at the Hyatt in Salt Lake for the night. It was a really nice hotel and we loved it, except for the pool....I was in a word, disappointed. We booked this particular hotel entirely for the pool...We looked up the pictures online and it had a beautiful pool...see here. Well turns out we checked in and it was most definitely not this pool and it was about 1/4 of the size. Haha, we got a pretty good laugh about it. But our room was great and we still had a blast. 

On Saturday we slept in, swam, and did some shopping and eating at the Gateway. We had so much fun.

The Golden Anniversary

This past weekend my whole family had the opportunity to go down to Manti to my grandparents house to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary. It was a really special weekend. All of my aunts and uncles and my parents put together open house party for all of the family and their friends and neighbors. We had so much fun. 

We started off by taking some family pictures in front of the temple. They were actually sealed in the St. George temple, but the Manti temple is only 3 blocks away so that's where we did pictures :)

 These Salt and Pepper shakers were one of their original wedding gifts 50 years ago. 

 My grandma's sister, Faylene, makes wedding cakes. My grandma's original wedding cake was her very first one. She remade that cake for the party, it was smaller than the original, but still the same design. She does such an awesome job. And they taste as good as they look!

The cake topper is even the same one as on their wedding cake 50 years ago.

 During the party all of the Granddaughters (excluding the very preggo, doesn't fit into anything one) tried on Grandma's wedding dress. It was a beautiful dress, and she was one very skinny lady...the oldest girl to try it on was 14 and it was tight on her...It was really fun to see them all in Grandma's dress.

After the cake we all sat down and my Uncle Todd read a "Tribute to Mom and Dad" written by my Uncle Mike, he is living in Panama City right now and couldn't make it. It was really awesome. It started out before they even met and went through their entire lives together. Mike did a really great job on it. 

Thank you Grandma and Grandpa for the wonderful examples that you have been to all of us. Jake and I's baby will start the 4th generation from them, and I couldn't be happier that they are both around for our little girl to be able to be raised around. She couldn't have better role models in how to live the gospel, and how to live life in general. We are so blessed to be able to have these people as our grandparents. We love you! Happy Anniversary!

The Fourth of July

The 4th of July has always been my very favorite holiday. And this year didn't disappoint! We started out the weekend early Thursday morning when we drove to our family reunion in Nevada. We do this reunion every other year over 4th of July weekend and it is so fun. It is a huge reunion, it is all of my grandmas cousins! Which makes for a lot of people....We had a blast at it though. I practically had to drag Jake home...we ended up driving the 5 hour drive at midnight because he was so afraid he would miss some shooting, hiking, 4-wheeling, arrowhead hunting, or something. 

Some of you may wonder how I camped for 4 days in a tent...7 months pregnant. Well normally it is just a deal with the uncomfortableness type thing, but my awesome uncle showed up with a mattress for our tent! Not an air mattress, a real mattress. We slept awesome! 

We did Face Painting, hair coloring, bingo, all kinds of activities for the kids. 

And adults apparently :)

Even got grandma in on the fun 

After we got back early Monday morning Jake and I went to some booths did some baby shopping and then we headed to Morgan for their 4th of July celebration. We of course started it off with some Patriotic Tangees from Steph's and some of their awesome fries....ahhh love their fries. Then we headed to the high school for the Jon Schmidt concert that the city put on. It was so good! My dad was the MC for it so we got front row seats :) and to meet him. He is so awesome. 

He is such a fun performer to watch! I wish so bad that it would let me upload the video that we took. 

Then we watched the Morgan Firework Show, they ended up actually having some technical difficulties though it only lasted about 3 minutes...oh well, it was still fun.
