Baby Lashes

I'm in love with these girls eyelashes. So when they were preoccupied with playing the tub the other day, I decided to take advantage and get some pictures of those beauties. They never hold still for more than 0.3 seconds, so it still wasn't easy. But we succeeded. 

Little Shirley Temple

This morning I decided to try some curlers in Emery's hair and see how it did. I always want to curl her hair, but I keep forgetting to buy a curling iron small enough for her length of hair, and let's be honest, she wouldn't hold still anyway. So I turn on the Book of Mormon movie, Ammon, and threw some curlers in. By the time the movie was over, I only had to blow dry them for just a minute and they were all dry. It turned out so cute! And now she is convinced that she really is a princess... if she wasn't already before...and she is twirling all around the house. 

Lately

Trying to make it through this crazy winter. Playing in the snow, when Macie allows it.

This picture is from the beginning of December...after the past week of never ending rain, we definitely don't have this much snow anymore!

Making cookies. Emery asks to make cookies all. the. time. Luckily I don't give in too often. But sometimes we do. These particular cookies we made this day were divine though. So it was definitely worth it. She chose well. 

Cuddling in moms bed. These two sisters are the best of friends, and I love love love it. Such sweeties. This particular morning Emery informed me she wanted a "baby brudder" Wish granted. 

Painting Valentines for Dad and Grandma. I kept this frame for myself though. She did such a good job on it I couldn't bear giving it to anyone! 

Bath time. There is nothing either of these girls like more than bath time. They really like when I put them in together too. I love all of Macie's rolls. Emery has grown out of all of hers. She is skinny minnie now!

And last but not least, Shayli's state cheerleading competition last weekend. 

Macie 6 and 7 months

I am behind on these...I know. But the good news is I did at least take Macie's 6 month pictures, I just never posted them. But the pictures are mostly what I want so I'm okay with it.

6 Months:

Macie is at the absolute funnest age right now. I absolutely LOVE 6 and 7 months. Her little personality is bursting through and she is so much fun. She is so happy all the time and is very rarely not smiling at you. She has big huge open mouth smiles that we love. She is so easy to get giggling and it's music to our ears. Such a sweet baby. It is showing more and more every day that while she looks more like her mom, she got her dad's personality. She is so calm and easy going with whatever is going on. She is content to just hang out on the floor, crawling around, getting into things. It's a stark contrast to her spitfire sister who looks like her daddy, but she is all mom on the inside. Macie is sitting up great and crawling all over the place. She went through a small army crawl phase like kids do, but now she is all hands and knees. She gets where she wants to go and fast. I'm constantly asking Emery, where did Macie go? Where did Macie go? It's nice having a extra set of eyes. She knows when Macie is doing something she shouldn't be or going somewhere she shouldn't go and she lets me know. Macie is also majorly into her every single thing she can get her hands on goes in her mouth, and now that she has gotten her pincer grip she can pick small things up off the the floor and eats it. Emery has been really good at yelling don't eat that!! And taking it from her. I didn't realize at her young age, how much help Emery would be sometimes. Macie is also really wanting to stand on her own. She has started pulling herself up onto things so she is standing and she loves the new perspective that it brings. She gets so excited. She also tries to climb up whatever she is holding onto...which is a little scary.  I love watching them reach milestones and how excited it makes them. She started sleeping through the night again about a month ago after about 4 months of not doing it again. She usually gets up once and eats around 5:30 or 6:00. But she goes to bed about 7-7:30 so it's about 10-11 hours of sleeping straight so I can't complain. I wish I could get her to go to bed later but she is a early to bed early to rise kind of girl. I am hoping to be able to get her to go to bed with Emery at 8:30 soon though. It would be nice to have them on the same bedtime. Especially since we will be putting them in the same room in about 6-7 months. It's not bad now since they don't share a room. She is is 6-9 month clothes, but most are still a little too big, she still can wear pretty much all of her 3-6 month clothes. She is very small, but definitely no shortage of adorable baby chub, that I love! We bumped her up to size 3 diapers, a little early, but she was blowing out of her size 2 like 3-4 times a day and I was getting sick of all of the extra laundry and stain removal. It really is unreal how many blowouts this girl has. Emery was never like that, so it's thrown me off! She has gotten really good at feeding herself. It has been very helpful for me. When I am making meals I can put her in her high chair with some Cheerios and she just eats and is content. I really love it. She has also started transferring things from one hand to the other and back and forth. She loves being tickled softly, just like Emery. She loves getting in the bath tub, and really likes when I put her in with Emery. She really wants to eat the food off our plates and it frustrates her that we don't give her bites. One night we stopped and got ice cream cones and she was screaming when she didn't get one. We eventually let her have a couples bites just so she would stop yelling at us! 

7 months:

Happy Love Day ;)

Our Valentine's Day started off with a bang. Emery and I woke up to heart pancakes courtesy of Jake. They were so cute! I was very impressed. He also had a couch full of little surprises for us. A dozen roses for me, a single rose for Emery with a card, a monkey, a box of chocolates, and balloon. I got Emery a little play dough and a small memory game and a card. Macie got a card and a stuffed animal from dad. And I got a box of chocolates and a basket full of lots of little things. I'll spare you the details ;) 

Emery LOVED her rose. Like more than anything she got except for maybe the balloon. She sat at the counter as often as possible just smelling it and holding it. She wanted to carry the vase around with her everywhere but I wouldn't let her. She was totally in love. 

We spent the rest of the day after dad left playing play dough, playing games, coloring pictures, making Valentines, you name it. 

After Jake got home from work we started our evening off with a perfect heart pizza. It was delish. Jake was a lucky guy this year and got 3 dates for Valentines! Beat that. ;)

After dinner we had some yummy cheesecake. This is one of Jake's favorite desserts that I make so I made it for him. Macie hit the sack pretty early, she was super tired tonight. Emery stayed up until her usual bedtime. We listened to some of her favorite songs, played hide and seek, played ring around the rosie, and Memory. 

Now Jake is reading Emery bedtime stories while I finish this up.

Colorado Springs

For over a year now Jake has been working on a project at Fort Carson Army Base in Colorado Springs. It's finally started to get towards the end, and the company decided to send Jake out there to follow up with some things. So one day, a Thursday I believe, Jake called me from work and asked if I wanted to pack up the kids and head to Colorado Springs. We have been dying to get out of the house this winter, we've had so much snow, and been so cold, and we are sick of being inside! So I agreed. The only catch was we were leaving the next day! So we packed up everything and left Friday night. They had some materials that needed to be taken out there so we had to drive so we could take the stuff with us. We decided driving through the night would be better than the day. And boy am I glad we did. It was about 2 hours of driving before Emery fell asleep, and I am pretty sure I would've dropped her on the side of the road if she had been awake the whole time! Not really..but seriously it made the ride much nicer when both kids were asleep. We got to Colorado Springs at about 5am on Saturday morning and checked into the hotel. We were so impressed with our hotel! We had called the day before and told them we wouldn't be there until about 5. Well the guy that we talked to made breakfast and had it all ready and waiting for us at 5 when we got there so we could eat and go to sleep without having to worry about getting up while they were serving breakfast. It was so nice. Unfortunately though, Emery and Macie did sleep the whole drive...so after about 2 hours of sleep at the hotel they were both up and ready to go, not caring that their parents had been up all night! So we got ready and headed out for the day, Jake had to go to the job site so I just took the kids to the mall and we shopped all. day. long. It was fun. They were really really good and just hung out in the stroller while I drug them around the whole mall. We mostly just hung out all day. After Jake got done we took the girls to take a nap at the hotel, and we took a nap! Then we took Emery swimming and had some Mexican for dinner. 

On Sunday morning we woke up, got ready, had breakfast, and headed out of for the day. Jake didn't have to work at all this day so we could do what we wanted. First off we went to Jake's first house. He was born in Colorado Springs and this is the house they lived in, so we went to see it! My personal favorite is the flames on the garage ;) haha just kidding. Those are new addition Jake says. 

After that we went to the Garden of the Gods visitor center and through the Garden of the Gods. It was pretty cool, nothing compared to Moab and the red rocks of Utah though. 

Emery did enjoy running around on them and throwing rocks though. 

After that we went to Mantua and grabbed some lunch and went to a park to eat. We were just soaking up the nice weather. It was at least 50 degrees the whole time we were there, and it felt oh so good. So nice to just be able to be outside! That night we ordered dinner in to our hotel and just hung out there. Let Emery go swimming some more, and watched TV. It was really nice to just relax. 

Monday Jake had to go to the job site again. The girls and I went to lunch and bummed around and he finished in not too long. Then we started our long journey home. The girls were awake for most of that drive though. 

Overall it was a good trip. Colorado Springs definitely wasn't the most exciting place I've ever been. There really isn't much there in the way of tourism. We would have liked to go do a tour at Air Force Academy but the schedule just didn't work out that way. But it was nice to be out of the house, warm, and together as a family! Which with how much Jake has been working lately is sometimes rare. Thank goodness for weekends though!
