Relief Society 160th Birthday

Last night our Relief Society celebrated the Relief Society Birthday. They assigned people to decorate tables based on certain months with cupcakes. My mom and I got assigned May and June. So when I saw this pineapple flower on Pinterest I knew that would be perfect! My mom also loves Pink Lemonade cupcakes so I decided to also do a Strawberry Lemonade cupcake and topped it with a candied lemon. They turned out great! They were super yummy and were perfect for decorating our table! Once we got there we all sat at the table that represented the month of our birthday so I ended up sitting at this table too. It was such a fun night with the sisters in our ward. I love this ward! Thanks to the Presidency for all of their work putting it together!

*I did take my camera to take more pictures at the actual activity and then didn't take a single one...good job Kara, so all you get is cupcake pictures :)*

Our Weekend in Pictures

We had such a great weekend! The weather was perfect. It started on Thursday when my Aunt and Uncle from Arizona made a trip up to visit! We all went to dinner with them and my other Aunt and Uncle that live here in Morgan followed by an intense game night of Blokus and Quirkle, 2 of our favorite family games. Afterwards everyone (except Jake and I, we were home with the babe) went to the midnight showing of Hunger Games, then came back and spent the night at our house.
I know this isn't a picture of my aunt and uncle but this is while they were there! Emery was so happy to finally meet them! :)

Friday night we kicked off our Spring/Summer cookouts with the first one of the season.
It was perfect and Emery loved watching the fire.

Saturday we had lots of yard work to get done so we slathered on the sunscreen, brought out the exersaucer, and some sunglasses and spent the day outside working. Emery was in heaven.

After we finished all of the yard work for the day Jake, my dad, Emery, and I headed to the ball park to catch, throw, and hit some balls. Jake has been wanting to go do it for a while now, and my dad and I are never ones to turn down a chance for some softball!
We had to get some practice before we start our softball league this summer with my cousins.

Trying to stop Emery from eating the grass :)

What a perfect weekend! We are loving all of the beautiful weather. It is even better this year with our little one. It is so fun to watch her explore and discover everything.

Our Little Princess

My mom got Emery this princess dress and we have been dying to try it on her...So for church yesterday we decided to let her wear it. Even though it is still a little too big :)
She looked sooo cute. It is more dress than baby, and is really hard since this girl NEVER holds still. Ever.
But it's worth it.
Jake kept calling her Cinderella. She looked like a little princess.

Big Girl Bathtime

Since Emery has been sitting up she has wanted to take baths sitting up too. No more laying in the "infant" side of the tub, no not her, she sits up on the "toddler" side...(even though she is far from being a toddler still :)) She thinks she is bigger than she is....

It is slippery in that tub though and with all the kicking and moving she sometimes slips and falls over.
Dad has to save her.
Yes, I know she needs bath toys...I always forget when I go to the store.
For now her cup will have to do. She is happy with it at least!
Is there anything cuter than a baby in a hooded towel? No, no there is not.

I love my little duckie :)

We've been...

busy busy busy soaking up this good weather and trying to spend as much time as possible outside. But once in a while it isn't quite warm enough to spend much time outside we find things to stay busy inside....
Standing and holding herself up on her toys. This in particular is her favorite toy to stand up with and play on.

Enjoying the sunshine by going on lots and lots of walks and going to the park!
Playing with toys. She has really been loving toys lately. She will play and play. If one that she wants is out of reach, or even on the other side of the room, she will scoot herself right over to it and bang on it until I come turn it on. Then she'll sit and play until she is ready for another toy and she'll scoot over to it.
She loves to sit in her Bumbo and watch mom make dinner.
Experiencing the trampoline for the first time. It took her a little bit to figure it out, but now she loves it.
She'll laugh and giggle every time she gets bounced. She especially loves when I hold her in my lap and Jake bounces us together. She has big belly laughs everytime.

Learning about animals. She is a big animal lover already. She loves to sit and watch the dogs, cats, and horses. She will smile from ear and ear and start giggling if he gets too close.

We are absolutely LOVING all of this sunny, warm weather. We are ready for spring and summer. Emery loves being outside more than anything and would stay out there all day. We go sit on the porch every night waiting for dad to come home. She loves it.

Cinco

I say this every month, and I will continue to say it, I cannot believe she is 5 months old! Time seriously flies. But we are loving every single minute we have had with this girl and couldn't imagine our lives without her!
Emery Rose
5 Months
16 lbs 4 oz
25 inches
cute as ever :)

Emery is getting so big. This month she ate rice cereal for the first time. She is always wanting to eat anything that we are eating. She has also tried butternut squash, pears, and potatoes. Loved them all. I also let her have a tiny sip of my cranberry juice the other day. She loved that too. This girl is gonna love food just like her mom and dad :)

She has been able to roll from her stomach to her back for a few months now (3 months old). But about 2 weeks ago she finally mastered from her back to her stomach. For about a week we knew it was coming any minute she would get so close but just get caught on one shoulder. Then one day she just did it and hasn't stopped. She is constantly rolling. She will not stay on her back for 2 seconds unless she is eating, and even then it depends on how hungry she is :)

She has also been working on her "scooting". We got new carpet in our living room and she is a major spitter-upper. So we put her on a big blanket so she doesn't spit up on the carpet. This only lasts a few minutes she scoots right off to whatever she wants to get. It is adorable, she looks like a little worm. Love it.

As I already blogged a few days ago she can also sit up by herself now. It is really nice to be able to sit her somewhere and she can just sit. She used to get so tired of being on her back. She still topples over every now and then when she loses her balance but she can sit for at least a long time before she topples over!
The last few weeks she has started doing this sideways smile (see picture above in the bottom middle) She does this a lot. It cracks us all up. She also does a "one eyed squint" (see picture above in top left corner). She is so full of facial expressions. Always keeps you laughing.
 At 5 months Emery loves:
Back scratches...my word this girl loves to just sit and have anyone scratch her back!
Food, food, and more food. Anything we eat she wants to be eating and will do her best to get it.
Playing peek-a-boo with Dad. He can get her laughing so hard. She has the cutest belly laugh.
Getting tickled, ok maybe she doesn't love this. But I love to hear her laugh when you tickle her.
Bath Time, she still loves to kick and scream and splash.
Being swaddled. We should probably start weaning her from this, but I really don't want to! It makes it so easy to calm her down and I can just give her her binki, put her in her crib and she will put herself to sleep for naps. At bedtime we usually rock her and sing to her. But this makes naps super simple.
She is getting better at naps...for a little over a week now we have had at least one 2 hour nap a day! YAY!

She sleeps mostly through the night. Usually just gets up once. She goes to bed by 7:30 wakes up around 5, eats, goes back to bed until about 7:30! Then down for morning nap by 9-9:30. It is a really great schedule. I'm very happy with it.

She has learned how to pick up her binki and put it back in her mouth when it comes out. She isn't pro at it yet, and it takes her a little bit to try to get it right, but she is patient and keeps trying :)

She's been able to hold her own bottle for about 2 months now, but it is so nice! She can feed herself while I attempt at getting something done...

Happy 5 months sweet baby! We love you so much! :)

Newest bag of tricks

This girl is getting way too big....I can't stand it!
She can now sit up...all by herself. She can just sit and play with toys all alone.
I can't believe how fast she is growing!
By the look on her face I'm thinking she must be shocked too... :)
