Apple of Our Eye

I can't believe that this has actually come and gone but today we celebrated Emery's 1st birthday! It isn't actually for another week, but October marks the beginning of the Elk hunt, which is this family means busy busy busy! And all the guys gone...So we celebrated a few days early. But it was absolutely perfect. We had so much fun, had so many people come show their love for Emery, and Emery was in heaven with new toys and loads of attention. Thanks to everyone who made time to come, we appreciate it so much! Here are some details of the party.
The Food and Decor:

Make your own Caramel Apple Bar.

My dad's birthday is 2 days before Emery's so we celebrated his today too. If you know my dad you know he doesn't like many desserts. He doesn't like cake, mostly the frosting, so this year I decided to make him a "cake" of something that I know he actually likes. One of the few desserts that he really enjoys is caramel popcorn , so I decided it would be perfect to make his "cake" from that. The "filling" is just caramels. He was pretty happy about it.

The Menu:
Homemade Chili
Cornbread
Apple Cider Doughnut Holes
Caramel Apple Cupcakes
Caramel Apple Cider Cookies
Apple Cider Caramels
Caramel Popcorn

The guests:

Emery gets so jealous if anyone holds Kate. haha. As soon as my mom picked her up Emery instantly wanted to be held by her too. She's a jealous little girl! (And spoiled too!)

The presents:

Presents are a new concept for Em, she wasn't too sure. At first she just wanted to check out all of the sparkles on the bag.
Until she peeked inside...is that something in there?

It is!

Now if that isn't a look of pure delight over a present I don't know what is!

She instantly knew who that present was from and as soon as she got it out she ran to her.

That's a happy girl! Now we are the ones who get the pleasure of listening to "I hear it's your birthday...da-na-na-na-na-na It's my birthday too yeah...da-na-na-na-na-na-na-na...." But you've never seen a happier girl  than when that elephant is singing and dancing!

Although she was pretty excited about her new Little People doll house, bath toy, and helicopter. She loves all the people that go in them.

The singing and the cake:

As soon as we started singing Happy Birthday she got a grin from ear to ear. She felt so special.

This was a first. She obviously doesn't understand the blowing out of candles, but a flame looked like something fun to touch. Once we finished singing she just put of the candle with her fingers!

And grabbed a flower :) She is already a pro at cake smashing from her 1st birthday pictures we took the other day. That's why we didn't do another one at her party. We let her play with the flowers at least though.

Then she did it again to my dad's candles!

As soon as it was over she was thrilled to go in and play with all of her toys. She was so happy. She just bounces from toy to toy not knowing which one exactly to stop and play with.

We love you so much baby girl! I hope you had a fun party. I'm just glad I still have another week before you are actually 1 :)
