Halloween in the land of Oz

October has been an absolutely crazy month for us. Jake has been studying constantly for his PE, which he rocked yesterday, we've had a million things going on. Most especially this week! But we still had a wonderful Halloween. We kicked off our celebrations on Thursday when Emery got to dress up for preschool. Her real Halloween costume hadn't come yet, so she decided she wanted to be Belle for her school Halloween. She was a beautiful Belle! They all looked so cute. They had their Halloween party for the first part of class, then at the end they got to go to all of the kids houses and trick or treat. They loved it. 

While Emery was at school I took the Macie and Harley and we went to the Library for the Trick or Treat Storytime. We have gone to this every year since we moved here and they love it. We go to the library and they read Halloween stories, then we walk through the city and county offices and trick or treat at each office. It is my mom's office too, so that is part of why they like it so much. 

Macie dressed up as Cinderella for this, and Harley wore his real Halloween costume. 

Emery was counting down the days until "real Halloween". She spent Friday making sugar cookies with Grandma and she could not wait until the party to finally get to eat them! When the time came to get in costumes tonight and go trick or treating they were so excited. Our little "Dorfy", Glinda, and Tin Man were absolute perfection. They were so adorable. 

First off we hit up the business trick or treat. They all scored a lot of treats and had to have a sucker right away.  

 

After that we went to my mom and dads for dinner and our party. Of course the tradition of trick or treating at Grandma's house. After dinner we trick or treated some of grandma's neighbors. 

Emery was so tired by the time we were going home. The whole drive they were begging to get into bed. We came home and brushed teeth, got in the bed, and I closed their door. A minute later as I walked past to go put something away I heard Emery say, "Macie, today was the best Halloween ever!" She is so sweet. Makes every minute of craziness worth it! 

Black Island Farms round 2

Jake and Harley didn't get to go with us on our preschool trip, so we went back! The girls obviously liked it again, but Harley loved it! He went down all of the slides, rode the swings, rode the train, played in the corn. We had a blast. 

This kid..ahh he is the cutest. When you pull out the camera he says, "cheeeee". He melts me. 

Emery asked Jake to bury her in the corn pit. haha.

Black Island Farms

A couple weeks ago Emery had her first preschool field trip! I was so excited, and so was she. Jake stayed and worked from home that day so we could leave Harley home with him, and I took the girls and went.

The first thing we did was the hayride. They take all of these preschool kids back out into the farms and talk about growing the carrots, and corn, and pumpkins. Then they take them to the small pumpkin patch and let them each get a little pumpkin. They go find the one they want and then stand by it with their hand up for them to come and cut it off the vine. Macie just went straight to the one that was already cut. 

Then we got to go and play! They had the same stuff as usual, and as usual it was a blast. Riding the swings, tons and tons of slides, tractor rides, you name it. I didn't get any pictures of the slides because I was going down them so many times with them. We had a blast. 

They also have a produce stand here where you can buy the produce that they grow. We bought a big 25 pound bag of carrots. 

The girls wanted one on the ride home. I couldn't resist getting a picture of her with her sunglasses! She ALWAYS puts them on upside down. She has a 50/50 chance of getting it right but 100% of the time they are wrong, and I love it. She is the cutest.
We had such a fun day, and it was so fun to just spend some time with the girls and not be trying to take care of a baby. We will be going back soon and taking Harley and Jake with us though!

These girls are obsessed with all things princess, especially dressing up. Every morning, pretty much the first thing they do is change into a princess dress.

Helping grandma blow out her candles for her birthday. 

mmmmm my favorite cake ever. It just so happens it is hers too so I get to make it every year. Raspberry White Chocolate. 

Ever since I found out I was having a girl so many years ago, I have been so excited for her to be able to start dance. She started ballet last year, but for me clogging was the dancing that I did my whole life. Even up into college. So I have been particularly excited for clogging. She is finally old enough and got to start this year, and I got to buy her her first pair of clogging shoes! She loves them, and calls them her clapper shoes. I truly hope she loves clogging like I did and sticks with it. 

I took some family pictures for a friend in Salt Lake at Sugarhouse park, so Jake and the girls came with and played on the playground while I took them. When we were leaving the sun was just setting and it was gorgeous, so of course we had to take advantage. 

Emery had her first primary program last Sunday. She was suuuuppper wiggly, and did a lot of twirling and waving at Macie, but she did so good! She sang all of her songs and said her part perfectly. "I know my parents love me because they give me hugs"

And Harley wandered into our photo shoot so we had to get one of him of course. 

This guy loves to stand in the doorway and watch his sister ride bikes in the driveway. He doesn't ever try to go out. He just stands there and watches. 

Harley has learned that if he just stands in between his sisters he can get constant food. They are always more than willing to share whatever they have. Applesauce in this case.
