She.

Last week we had our big ultrasound to find out the gender of our peanut and make sure everything is going well. For the last 1-2 months I have been convinced we were having a boy. Every dream I had about a baby was about a little girl, but I still really thought it was a boy. Jake on the other hand really thought it was a girl, I told him he was wrong, looks like he wasn't! We are SO excited to have this little princess join us though! She has her daddy wrapped around her finger already...All I have to say is "She wants this..." and it's done! Haha! Just kidding, Jake was wonderful even before he knew what we were having. Here are some of baby's first pictures! What a cutie! :)

1st Anniversary and Mother's Day

This past weekend Jake and I headed to Salt Lake to celebrate our first anniversary! We went on a little mini-vacation a few weeks ago to St. George to celebrate, but for our actual anniversary we decided to go back to where it all started. We originally booked the Treasure Island room at the Anniversary Inn, but then I remembered that it was also Mother's Day, and the Grand America Hotel has a fantastic Mother's Day brunch, so we cancelled that reservation and booked one here. It is beautiful hotel, and is where we stayed the day we got married, so I was excited to stay there again.

Our first stop was the temple. We went and did an endowment session at the Salt Lake Temple, where we were married. It was very special to be back in the celestial room together where we were for those last few moments before we were sealed together. It was fun to see all of the couples in our shoes a year ago in there anxiously waiting to be taken out! We love the Salt Lake Temple and it was so special to be back there together.

Afterwards we took a walk around the beautiful temple grounds. I was SO glad that we were able to be married in the spring when the Temple Square grounds are at their absolute best. I LOVE tulips and they have plenty of them there. We were able to get so many fun pictures at our wedding with these flowers! It is so beautiful there! We were actually able to get a picture of ourselves too, because a super nice guy walked by who actually knew how to work our camera! We were very grateful, haha. The rest of the day was spent shopping at the Gateway, eating at Jake's favorite, Tucanos, and relaxing in the warm weather by the pool.

After a nap back at the hotel, we jumped on Trax and went back to the Gateway to the Clark Planetarium. Jake was in heaven, haha. I can't wait until we have little kids to share in his excitement of this kind of stuff.

After even more shopping and dinner we headed back to the hotel for more pool time. Then spent the night watching TV and just relaxing after an exhausting, but so much fun day. It was the perfect way to celebrate our anniversary, even if it was the day before....Our actual anniversary was shared with Mother's Day! My first anniversary and first Mother's Day all in one :) That morning after breakfast we packed up and headed to Morgan to spend the day with the family. We played lots of games as usual. I have a very good video of Jake playing Just Dance on the Wii with my sister...it is priceless...but unfortunately I do not know how to get videos from our video camera to the computer. So until I learn how to do that you're out of luck. For Mother's Day we got my mom a necklace with all of our names engraved on it, I love it! I can't wait to get one for myself. After an awesome dinner of steak and potatoes we got to talk to my brother! He is on his mission in Toronto Canada. In about 3 weeks he will be hitting his one year mark! It was so good to be able to talk to him. We had such a great Anniversary/Mother's Day weekend. Happy Mother's Day to all of you Mothers as well and I hope you had a great weekend!

Our Corner of the World

Lately I've been getting a lot of grief for not updating my blog enough! But truthfully we don't have a whole lot to write about! But for those of you wanting to stay up to date with us, here is what's happening with the Welkers.

My sweet man:
Is still super busy with school and work, he did enjoy his 5 days off that we got to go on a mini-vacay and get away! He is staying very busy getting ready to go to China! He's got lots of projects that have to be done before he leaves. He is very excited though! Me...not so much...But I am excited for him since it will be a good experience! Graduation day is getting closer and closer for him, so we are very excited about that! December will be a very good month for us all! Jake is SUPER excited to be a daddy and it is so cute! I often find him not listening to me when I am talking to him at the store, or not paying attention in church because he is making faces at some baby to make them giggle or just watching the baby. Babies seem to have a fascination with him and will just stare at him until their heads can't turn any more. I can't wait to see him "in action".

The Little One:
So far I am LOVING being pregnant. Almost 18 weeks now. I was sick for about the first 14 weeks, but it really wasn't that bad. I kind of got used to it after the first few weeks, and it kind of became normal! Worse that actually being nauseated, for me, is the constant feeling of hunger! I get so tired of eating! I haven't had any cravings, mostly just the opposite, things that I do not want to eat. I normally have quite the sweet tooth, but not these days, I don't like more than 1-2 bites of ice cream, I tried to eat a cupcake the other day and once again 1-2 bites was all I could handle. But I guess these are good things! Now if I can keep that after this little one comes...Baby is still growing nicely, I still haven't gained any weight, but everything is still going well so that's ok! I do have a "belly" though that's for sure. It was like all the sudden one day it wasn't there and the next it was. But I kind of like it so it's ok, my favorite is how much Jake likes it. He is always rubbing it and talking to it, it's so precious. We love going to our appointments and being able to hear the little heartbeat! It is so amazing! Now for the question that we are getting asked more than anything these days....Do we know what we are having...the answer for now is no. BUT the big day is coming! Wednesday, May 11th, is our big ultrasound and we can hardly wait! I am pretty sure it's boy, but who knows, I may be wrong! We don't care what we have honestly though, as long as he/she is healthy that is all we really need! We are so excited!

The Mom-to-be:
Other than the exhaustion of growing a little one I am basically just working. It's nice that work is really all I have going on because on my days off it is really easy to go to bed early and get up early, getting plenty of sleep that I seem to so desperately need! The sleep problems that I was having  with working nights have pretty much all been solved with being pregnant because I can sleep anywhere, anytime! The days that I am working I figure are just good preparation for motherhood though, staying up all night, going for few days with very little sleep, it's all going to come in handy someday :) I am throughly looking forward to my 3 months off to spend with my baby though!

That's basically what's happening in our little corner of the world! I promise that once we actually have something to blog about, we will :)
